Korean language class at ICLS with students learning Hangul

Discover Korean at ICLS Malaysia

Korean has become one of the fastest-growing languages in Malaysia, fuelled by the global reach of K-drama, K-pop, Korean cuisine, and the expanding presence of Korean businesses in Southeast Asia. Whether your interest in Korean began with a favourite television series or stems from a career opportunity with a Korean multinational, ICLS provides a structured and effective path to genuine proficiency.

Our Korean Language Classes are aligned with the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) framework, the internationally recognised standard for measuring Korean ability. From learning Hangul, the Korean writing system, in your very first week, to composing essays and debating current events at the advanced level, every stage of the programme is carefully mapped to clear learning outcomes.

All Korean classes at ICLS are taught by native Korean instructors who understand both the language and the cultural context that gives it meaning. Korean is a language where politeness levels, sentence endings, and word choice shift dramatically depending on social context, and our teachers guide students through these distinctions with patience and clarity. You will learn not just what to say, but how and when to say it.

Cultural integration is a defining feature of our Korean programme. Lessons frequently incorporate Korean music, film clips, webtoons, and news articles as learning materials. We also organise regular cultural activities such as Korean cooking sessions, K-pop dance workshops, and movie screening discussions that give students the chance to practise their skills in relaxed, enjoyable settings. These activities are open to students across all levels and are a wonderful way to build friendships with fellow Korean language enthusiasts.

For students with professional goals, our programme builds the vocabulary and communication patterns needed for business interactions with Korean partners and colleagues. Korea is one of Malaysia's largest trading partners, and companies such as Samsung, LG, Hyundai, and countless smaller firms maintain significant operations in the country. Proficiency in Korean can be a decisive advantage in this competitive job market.

Class sizes are kept small to ensure that every student receives ample speaking practice and individual feedback. Our instructors use a communicative methodology that prioritises active use of the language over passive memorisation, so you will be forming sentences and holding basic conversations much sooner than you might expect.
